Beer, xbox and theme parks are a very good mix

My friends and I don’t get to hang out a lot, when were at university were spread across the country (and occasionally other countries) and when were at home, well we live in different towns and only a few of us drive so meeting up tends to be difficult and a bit of a rarity. We decided we were over due a get together so decided to have what we call a “beer and xbox night” (lad’s night in) followed by a trip to Alton towers.

Alton towers is a local (sort of) theme park, if you live in our part of the country then you’ve probably visited at least once, if like us you’ve lived here your entire lives then you’ve probably been more times then you can remember (in fact we’ve reached a point where it’s a yearly event).

I took both my cameras along (D40X and a kodak point and click), unfortunately I forgot to take photos on the beer and xbox night, so you’ll have to make do with photos from the morning after and our trip to Alton Towers.

This is my friend Chris, we first met at sir John Deanes college when we decided it would be a good idea to go rowing, I gave up on rowing fairly quickly but got into kayaking.

Chris is training to be an engineer, he's showing off the computer he built himself.

And this is my good friend Ben, I also met Ben at SJD's college we were put in the same form room and have been friends for about four years. Ben's training to be a dancer and no he's not gay.

This strapping young chap Ben (I collect them), I also met Ben at you guessed it college and I also met Ben rowing. I gave up and he didnt he's still an active rower now.

and this is Andy, Andy and I met in the same way I met Ben (the dancer not rower)we were put in the same form but we also ended up in pretty much every single class together and as a result we usually ended up sitting next to each other. One day Andy declared "wheres my monkey?" I answered "here" and a friendship was born (as well as a nickname).

Alton towers as always was packed but this was well justified. They just put in a new ride, you go on a boat that looks like a pirate ship that has big hand pumped water pistols on it, you try and soak everyone on land (who also try to soak you as well) you end up drenched right through.

Now your probably wondering why I'm 'hanging around' (sorry bad pun) well I get bored very quickly and alot of the queues were just under an hour long, so it felt like an eternity to me.

Best friends forever.

The things I want August

If you know anything about me then you’ll probably know that I’m slightly obsessed with Tee shirts, in fact you could probably call me a tee shirt geek the only reason why my collection isn’t stupidly large is because I’m pretty broke. So I figured I’d carry on doing what I’ve been doing for a long time and window shop.

Lately I've been really into Johnny cupcakes

I badly want this tee, its called Wilson named after the next door neighbour on home improvement who’d always give advice but never show his face.

And the photos are in (from our very first round of shooting)

About a year ago we started the Pic it forward project and we managed to get an amazing group of forty six bloggers to take part and everything went well... for a while. For various reasons each and every route we set up were never finished, they just disappeared off the face of the earth the problem was the routes were too long and the organisers (A.K.A another blogger and I) didn’t really stay in touch with so we really weren’t expecting to see any of the cameras then the USA route 1 showed up in Alaska.

To be honest it really shouldn’t of been a surprise that it showed up in Alaska since that was where it was supposed to be going but it had been about six months between it being posted and arriving.

So here they are and I think you'll agree they were worth the wait.

Thanks Joe for printing them

Pic it forward round 3 revenge of the blurb

Photobucket

Hey guys and girls and welcome to Pic it Forward round three revenge of the blurb sign up blog!

So I’m willing to bet that a fair few of you are scratching your heads wondering just what exactly is pic it forward?

Pic it forward is an on going collaborative photography project we’ve been running on the blogs.

As with all good ideas its pretty simple an individual buys a disposable camera with 36 shots on it, takes 7 photos then posts it onto the next person on the list, this process is repeated until the camera is full of awesome photos, the last person to receive the camera then goes and gets the photos developed and put on to a CD (to make it easier to upload) then they upload them to the net and show them off to the world.

Sound like fun? Why don’t you check out all the progress so far?

So as you can see the second outing is coming to a close so I figured it was about time to start the third round of fun, want to join in?

Its pretty simple just email:

picitforward@gmail.com

User name
real name
address
willing to buy a camera (you'll be at the start of the route)
willing to print (and you'll be at the end)

in the subject put pic it forward, then put your threadless user name, this will make it easier for to work out who is who later.

Please note that because the majority of our members tend to live in the USA and because of regulations about packaging (I'll be putting together an advice blog at a later date which will explain) international members will be placed at the start and end of routes which means you'll have higher costs for taking part (purchasing/printing the camera plus the postage will be higher) so give it serrious think if you want to take part or not.

REVENGE OF THE BLURB

So your probably wondering why exactly am I calling this round revenge of the blurb? well were going to print a book !

Now I know some of our previous members were a little bit uncomfortable about printing a book so I want to take the change to dispell some fears.

The book is going to be printed through a self publishing service (at the moment it looks like it'll be blurb)

It will most likely only have a few prints, anyone who wants to buy the book will have to sign up to a reserve list and pay a small deposit then the order will be placed.

The goal of the book is for everyone to have something to remember the project by which is why we'll be making great efforts to be able to sell the book at an affordable price.
